Air and ether dominant. Quick, restless, creative, prone to anxiety and dryness. Nervous system is the weak point; routine is the medicine.
Bhrigu Nadi
Nadi Reading
Your nadi comes from the birth nakshatra and describes the constitution it governs — the body, the mind, what goes wrong first, and the regimen the tradition prescribes for it. Below that, the twelve houses of a nadi leaf, each read against your own chart.
Fire dominant. Sharp, ambitious, decisive, prone to inflammation and anger. Digestion and liver are the weak points; cooling and moderation are the medicine.
Water and earth dominant. Steady, patient, enduring, prone to congestion and inertia. Weight and lungs are the weak points; movement is the medicine.
The leaf opens with the person rather than the circumstances — build, complexion, temperament, and the first twelve years, which the tradition treats as the foundation for everything read afterwards. In nadi practice this house also carries the head and the nervous system, so it is read for constitution before it is read for personality. A strong first house means the body can carry whatever the rest of the chart asks of it; a weak one means every other promise in the leaf arrives late or costs more.
What the native receives rather than earns: inherited money, the family into which they were born, the mother tongue, and the way they speak. Nadi readers weigh this house for the face, the mouth, the teeth and the eyes, and for the habit of eating. It also records accumulated wealth as distinct from income — money that stays. Speech and money sit in the same house because the tradition regards both as things kept or spent.
Brothers and sisters, and more importantly the first effort a person makes without permission. This is the house of self-started action, short journeys, correspondence and the hands, arms, throat and ears. A well-supported third house shows a person who begins things; a weak one shows someone who waits to be asked. The tradition reads courage here not as fearlessness but as the willingness to act before conditions are perfect.
The mother, the house lived in, land, vehicles, and the emotional foundation underneath everything else. This is the house of the chest and the heart, and of whatever gives a sense of having somewhere to return to. In nadi reading a damaged fourth house is taken seriously even when the rest of the leaf is strong, because comfort at the base determines how much risk a person can carry elsewhere. Formal schooling is also weighed here.
Children, creative work, and the merit carried in from the previous birth — the tradition regards these as the same substance appearing in different forms. This house governs the stomach and the upper digestion, intelligence as distinct from learning, and the capacity for mantra to actually take effect. A strong fifth house is the clearest sign in a leaf that effort will be met halfway. Speculation and sudden gains are read here too, and warned about.
The three things a person creates and then has to live with. Illness, borrowed money, litigation, and opponents — including the ones made by one's own conduct. This house governs the lower digestion, the immune response and the daily grind of service and routine. In nadi practice the sixth is not simply bad: a strong sixth house gives the capacity to defeat disease and outlast opponents, which is why it is called the house of struggle rather than the house of loss.
The spouse, the spouse's family, and every partnership entered as an equal — business as much as marriage. This house governs the reproductive organs and the lower back. The leaf is read here for the nature and background of the partner, and for the native's own conduct inside a close relationship, which is often the more useful half. A shared nadi between two charts is objected to at this house above all others.
Length of life, inheritance, the money and property of others, occult knowledge, and the manner in which large transitions arrive. This is the most technical house in a nadi leaf and the most misread: it does not predict death so much as describe how change happens to this person — gradually or all at once. It governs chronic and hidden conditions, and anything that has to be undergone rather than chosen.
The father, the teacher, long journeys, and the dharma the person came to practise. This is the house of luck in the older sense — not chance, but the accumulated support a life has behind it. It governs the hips and thighs. In nadi reading a strong ninth house repairs a great deal elsewhere in the leaf; a weak one means what is gained will be gained by effort, without the wind behind it.
The profession, the position held, and the reputation that arrives before the person does. This house governs the knees and the standing posture, literally and otherwise. It is read for the kind of work rather than the amount of money, which belongs to the eleventh. The tradition holds that the tenth shows what a person is known for and the sixth shows what they actually do all day, and the two are not always the same.
Income as distinct from wealth, elder brothers and sisters, networks, and the fulfilment of desires long held. This house governs the ankles and the circulation of the lower legs. A strong eleventh house is the most reliable indicator of money arriving in a leaf, and it is read alongside the second: the eleventh brings it in, the second decides whether it stays. Friends and organisations are weighed here as well.
Where the ledger finally closes: spending, loss, foreign residence, solitude, hospitals and monasteries, sleep and the bed. This house governs the feet and the eyes. Nadi readers treat the twelfth as the house of release rather than the house of loss — what leaves, and whether it leaves cleanly. Living far from the birthplace is read here, and so is the quality of a person's rest, which the tradition regards as a medical matter.
This is a constitutional description from the Ayurvedic and nadi tradition, not a diagnosis. It describes tendencies, not conditions. Nothing here replaces a physician, and no herb should be taken on the strength of a web page.
